Success Stories

  • "I learned how to subtract easier and how to understand negative numbers."

    - R.C. (teen)

  • "I finished a whole section today and I really understood it. I gained a lot more confidence in factors and learned new math tricks."

    - B.K. (teen)

  • "I enjoyed learning the basics of Math and especially the derivation of the word mathematics being 'things learned'. The simplicity is the great thing about the study. It's fun!"

    - L.D. (guidance counselor)

  • "Me and my kids, we are having a great time understanding math. I love the way the course is organized with practical explanations. The first time (2 weeks ago) I came to the math class I feel like a huge cloud has wash out my misunderstanding on math. Now with a more clear mind and understanding I'm able to confront more and better on issues regarding counting and also I have more confidence in my abilities in math. Thanks so much."

    - M.Q. (parent)

  • "These classes have been amazing! After the first class last week, I was able to help a 12 year old student with his math homework. He had word problems as part of his homework. I panicked briefly and then remembered what I learned about translating the problem from English to Mathematics. This was a major break through for both of us. Then by applying the next rule I had learned (the law of transposition) I was able to help my student complete his homework, but got him to understand these points and it was very exciting. Thank you."

    - J.M. (tutor)

  • "Since I have been experiencing that Math can be considered a way of methodical thinking, and that there often is more than one way of figuring things out, my ability to duplicate and memorize musical scores of operas has markedly improved. This was one of the goals I wanted to accomplish with this course, as music is so closely related to math."

    - S.E. (Musician)

  • "Before doing this milestone I would have said that I didn't have any problem in math with addition. But in actual fact, I added numbers like a grade school child. I did slow mental calculations and for anything beyond simple double digit addition I grabbed a calculator. I actually had skipped gradients in numbers and basics that made addition a lot more work for me than it needed to be. Now that I have done these gradients of number placements from the first Milestone and adding on an abacus my mental addition is very fast and often instantaneous.

"Later in Milestone 2 came all the different ways of adding numbers together and all the math shortcuts to addition that made adding numbers even quicker, even easier and down right fun. Addition became just a simple fact that 8 + 9 is 17 or 1,025 + any number is what it is. As funny as that sounds, it is important because before doing this Milestone the only math skill I had was my memory of what I had learned 7 plus 8 was, therefore I always had nagging doubts; did I add that right or I'd better double check that one more time even when I had added it correctly. That nagging uncertain memory has been replaced by logic, fact and skill in addition.

"When the answers just jump up off the page at you, you know something has changed and that you now have real math skills that weren't there before doing the Milestone. I can't wait to get onto the next Milestone and I highly recommend this Math Workshop to everyone. Thank you."
